ReceiptMatrix Privacy Policy

ReceiptMatrix is a macOS application designed to help you organize receipts and generate reports locally on your device. This Privacy Policy explains what data ReceiptMatrix processes, what (if any) data leaves your device, and why.

2. Local-First Design

ReceiptMatrix is built to operate locally on your Mac.

Optical character recognition (OCR) runs on-device using Apple system frameworks.
Receipt images and extracted data are stored locally in your app container.
ReceiptMatrix does not transmit receipt images, OCR text, vendor names, totals, tax amounts, dates, notes, categories, or file paths to the developer.

Your financial data stays on your device.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

ReceiptMatrix stores the following locally:

Receipt files you import (copied into app storage)
Extracted receipt metadata (such as vendor, date, amount, tax, notes, category, confidence, timestamps)
App preferences (for example: analytics opt-in, automation settings, export schedules)
Security-scoped folder bookmarks for folders you select
A local deletion ledger to prevent previously deleted files from being re-imported

All of this information remains on your Mac unless you explicitly export or share it.

4. Folder and File Access

ReceiptMatrix can access only folders you explicitly choose.

macOS prompts you for permission when selecting folders.
Access is limited to those approved locations.
You may revoke access at any time in app settings.
ReceiptMatrix reads imported files and writes exported reports only to locations you select.

5. Optional Analytics (Off by Default)

ReceiptMatrix includes optional anonymous usage analytics provided by TelemetryDeck.

Analytics is disabled by default.
Analytics is enabled only if you explicitly opt in.
You may disable analytics at any time in Settings.

When enabled, ReceiptMatrix sends limited, non-personal usage data to help improve the app. This may include general feature usage events and basic contextual information about how features are used.

ReceiptMatrix does not transmit receipt content, financial amounts, vendor names, file paths, OCR text, or notes in analytics events.

TelemetryDeck may attach technical metadata according to its own SDK implementation and privacy practices.

6. Subscriptions and Apple Services

ReceiptMatrix uses Apple’s StoreKit 2 framework for subscriptions and in-app purchases.

Apple handles:

Payment processing
Subscription billing
Renewal and cancellation
Transaction validation

ReceiptMatrix does not receive or store your payment information.

7. Network Usage

ReceiptMatrix may use network access for:

Apple StoreKit services (subscriptions and entitlement validation)
Optional analytics (if enabled)
User-opened links (such as privacy policy or subscription management pages)

Receipt data is not transmitted during these operations.

8. Notifications

ReceiptMatrix may request permission to display local macOS notifications (for example, when a scheduled export completes).

These are local device notifications.
ReceiptMatrix does not use push notification servers.

9. Crash Reporting

ReceiptMatrix does not include a third-party crash reporting SDK in this version of the app.
The app does not automatically transmit crash logs to the developer.

10. Security

ReceiptMatrix runs within the macOS App Sandbox and uses Apple’s hardened runtime protections.

Incoming network connections are not enabled.
Outgoing network connections are limited to the services described above.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device unless you export or share it.

Deleting a receipt removes it from the app immediately.
App-managed files may be cleaned up during maintenance.
Uninstalling the app removes its local container data.

You are responsible for maintaining your own backups.

12. Third-Party Services

ReceiptMatrix uses:

TelemetryDeck (optional analytics, if enabled)

No advertising SDKs are used.

13. Children’s Privacy

ReceiptMatrix is not directed to children under the age of 13.

14. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect product improvements or legal changes.
Updated versions will include a revised effective date.
